Happy year of the Dragon 2012!
In Korea, the ever adorable Baskin Robbins has rolled out some adorable cakes with Dragon and traditional Korean dress to celebrate the New Year 2012!!

“Happy Lucky Dragon/ 해피 럭키 드래곤” and “Flying Dragon/플라잉 드래곤“
Like most BR cakes these are solid ice cream and feature chocolate flavors like Chocolate Mousse and Chocoholic

I LOVE the BR flavor “Chocolate mousse” (especially since Korea does not sell my absolute favorite “World class chocolate” here) but sadly these popped in and out of the stores so fast in my area that I was unable to buy one to nom or even photograph them in person. Happy lucky dragon is a standard design at BR, but that flying dragon cake is really detailed for a limited design! He even has a little goatee haha! Alas, no limited flavors came out with Dragon themes…typing that reminds me of the Florida special flavor they sell around Key West called “Gator Eyes” it was neon green vanilla with yellow crunch candy mixed in. It was so weird, but really fun to eat.

Also in stores (and sticking around a little longer) are cakes using the classic BR snowman shape, but dressed in Korean traditional clothing! These are a lot of fun and according to the Korean site they became the #6 and #9 most popular cake sold at the Korean locations from Jan 1~7.

They look just as cute in person!1 I’m really loving those little hanbok-style ties they piped with icing around the necks + the hat/hair piece are made of chocolate.

“This new year is going to be awesome/ 새해 대박나겠 (군)” and “XXXXXXX/새해 복 많이받을 (걸)”
Both cakes have Chocolate Mousse flavor for the heads. The boy version has an outer layer of “blueberry popping” with a center of “almond bon bon” flavor, while the girl has an outer layer of “cherry jubilee” and a center of “blueberry cheesecake”
